The 2025 CommuniCare data breach involved unauthorized access to an employee email account at the healthcare organization legally named Barrio Comprehensive Family Health Care Center. CommuniCare says it discovered the suspicious activity on September 16, 2025.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights reported 19,971 affected individuals. The Texas Attorney General entry identifies 19,885 of them as Texas residents, so the two figures represent the overall total and the state subset.

Verified Incident Timeline

After securing its email system and network, CommuniCare began an investigation with outside computer specialists. The investigation found that a limited number of emails in one employee account had been accessed without authorization. The review of those emails was completed on February 19, 2026; the public notice was dated March 6 and the Texas entry was published on March 9.
