About This Breach
The five classes are dates of birth, emails, IP addresses, usernames, and password hashes. Unsalted MD5 is reported for older accounts and bcrypt for newer accounts, so one storage format must not be assumed for every password. The measures do not mean unique people, active community members, or profiles containing every field together.
Payments, physical addresses, private messages, watch history, names, and phones are not classes in this record. A record does not establish identity, an Anime-Planet account or anime or manga interest, IP or location, age, password ownership or currentness, field co-occurrence, account takeover, or misuse.
Unsalted MD5 is weak by current standards; bcrypt is not plaintext. If the old password genuinely belonged to the person and was reused elsewhere, it should be replaced with a unique password.
