The 2020 Appen data breach is the June 22, 2020 incident affecting Appen’s data-labelling and online-workforce platform. The external source reports 5,888,405 unique emails and local search contains 5,883,594 records, a difference of 4,811.

About This Breach
The six classes are emails, employers, IP addresses, names, passwords, and phone numbers. Dates of birth, gender, geographic locations, usernames, payment data, and tax records are not reported scope. The measures do not mean unique people, employees or contractors, tasks, projects, or rows containing every field together.
A record does not establish identity, Appen employee or contractor status or a particular project or task, current employer, IP or location, phone or password ownership, field co-occurrence, payment, or misuse. The attack method must not be presented as SQL injection or another technical route without public support.
If the password genuinely belonged to the person and was reused elsewhere, it should be replaced. Work, task, payment, identity-verification, or account-recovery requests should be verified through an independent official Appen channel.
