Fanlore Security Incident
The Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) disclosed an unauthorized system access incident affecting its community wiki Fanlore on August 6, 2026. Forensic review determined that an archive of registered wiki contributor accounts was exfiltrated.

About This Breach
The exposed dataset encompasses 144,520 unique email addresses alongside contributor usernames and password hashes stored using MD5 or PBKDF2 hashing schemes. OTW operates separate financial and donor systems, which remained unaffected by the wiki compromise.
OTW required a site-wide credential reset and advised community members to update passwords on external services where historical passwords may have been reused.
