About This Breach

Hunter Health Clinic is a Wichita, Kansas community health organization providing medical, dental and behavioral-health services.

When was the breach detected?

The unauthorized access began on September 27, 2024 and continued through September 30. The organization reviewed the personal and health information in the affected files, determined the scope on May 1, 2025 and began notifications on May 15.

What information was affected?

Depending on the individual, the information could include names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's-license or other government ID numbers, financial-account information, medical and clinical information, patient account numbers and health-insurance information.

Not every field was affected for every person. Hunter Health said it had no evidence that medical information involved in the incident had been misused.

How many people were affected?

The Maine Attorney General filing reports 31,778 affected people. A separate HHS breach-portal entry lists a lower regulatory total of 28,431; the figures were not combined, and the broader Maine filing is used for the catalog count.

What should affected people do?

Notice recipients should review credit reports, bank accounts, health-insurance explanations of benefits and patient portals for unfamiliar activity. People whose Social Security numbers were involved should verify the terms of the offered credit-monitoring service in their own notice.

Do not provide identity, insurance or payment information in unexpected messages claiming to come from Hunter Health. Verify requests independently through the organization's known phone and web channels.
